For my New Years Vacation I did a few things:
I slept late every day, rising only at the crack of noon.
I stuck to my diet except for Christmas day.
I read several novels (all three Jasper Fforde plus The Watchmen and Years of Rice and Salt).
I watched some movies (RotK was fantastic! Love Actually was very cleansing for my eyes as I cried for the entire movie. Paycheck was a mistake at full price).
And, saving the best for last, I participated in a Tall Ships Cannon Battle in Long Beach Harbor. There are several pictures of the ships here, especially of the Lady Washington as well as details of our day at sea.

And this is technically a GIP. Because that's the Interceptor. And as we all know "there's no ship as can match the Interceptor for speed."

Wow, what a fab present from Karen! Excellent pictures. When are you planning on fighting again?

Isn't that just so fun!?! My friend C and I did that a couple of years ago, and I'm fairly sure were were on the Lady.

I only watched the extras on the POTC dvd a day or so ago, and found out about the Lady Washington being the the movie then.

That sounds really exciting, all the reading and then the sailing.

Is Jasper Fforde the Eyres author? I've bought that but as usual haven't read it yet -- and a frantic attempt to neaten things left it shelved in a cupboard instead of out in the open when I might pick it up easily. Did you like it? What are his other books like?

Hope you have a better new year. I have been snowed in in Oregon, but with four cats and two nieces in the house, this was not dull. The snow was absolutely perfect, except to drive on.

Found your pics via a chain involving [livejournal.com profile] mimesere and [livejournal.com profile] canalbaby. They're lovely!

I think [livejournal.com profile] linaelyn was on the Lady that day - she's put some of her pics up here (http://www.livejournal.com/users/linaelyn/464674.html), if you're interested in taking a look.

Hey, I'm a fairly complete stranger, I got to you via [livejournal.com profile] linaelyn's lj. Just wanted to say thanks for putting up the pics! I was crewing the Lady that day, and these are views I never get to see.
