It's a beautiful morning

We have been having some adventures, though none involving sea turtles, sadly. I have been catching up on important things, like napping, reading novels, trying new exotic drinks. You know, vacation stuff. Tommy Lee Jones has learned new tricks for waking me up at 6:30 to feed him. I have learned to sleep through most of those tricks. There was a dramatic rainstorm the other day and we got soaked in about 15 seconds. The water fell in sheets and just saturated the world. Then the rain stopped as suddenly as it began. The saying "if you don't like the weather, wait 5 minutes" has some potency here in Hawaii. The clouds move so fast that in the course of the morning, there's an overcast day, a rainy day, a bright sunny day and a sweltering, drizzly day. All before noon.
Rwr and I did go looking for Lost beaches. This beach has some promise but it's been so long since I saw season 1 that I'll need to go watch them again when I get home.

There's still one beach that is supposed to be the beach for season 2 that we haven't found public access to yet. We did find the waterfall that Kate and Sawyer find the guns case in, Waimea Falls. It's not quite the waterfall I remember from season 1 at least in terms of the amount of water actually falling, but still, that's the place and it was cool to be there.

Rwr and I swam to the falls and sat in the waterfall. The water streaming down the cliff is several degrees warmer than the water in the stream. None of the water is cold, though, rest assured. The fresh water is not as buoyant as sea water and that made swimming seem much more difficult than it did in Waimea Bay.
Today's plan involves swimming around in the bathtub.

Then, if we have the energy, maybe going to the turtle beach to see if we can see the "swarms of turtles" that allegedly hang out there. We'll return to our quest for Lost tomorrow (probably).

Date: 2006-07-14 06:52 pm (UTC)We did go snorkeling but it was so cloudy it was difficult to see. So we walked along hte beach and came upon a monk seal and her cub on the beach. There we also saw the "monk seal response team" as their t-shirts proclaimed, observing all the mom and pup behavior. All in all, a very good day.
